Felix Ho was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Sydney, Australia. He attended the University of New South Wales, completing a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (Honours, University Medal) in 1997 and a Bachelor of Laws (University Medal) in 1999. During this time, he studied a semester at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. In 2000, he worked for six months as a research assistant for Professor Justin Gooding at UNSW, focusing on surface immobilization chemistry and atomic force microscopy for biosensor applications. Felix then began his PhD studies at Cambridge University under the Australia Trust Packer Scholarship, supervised by Professor EAH (Lisa) Hall at the Institute of Biotechnology. His project involved the development of a fluorescence assay for the direct detection of single base pair mismatches in duplex DNA, utilizing fluorescence UV-Vis spectroscopy and molecular biological manipulations. In 2004, Felix joined Uppsala University as a Marie Curie Post-doctoral Fellow in Professor Stenbjörn Styring's group, studying the water oxidation mechanism of the enzyme Photosystem II (PSII) using EPR spectroscopy. He has also spent time as a visiting research fellow at the Australian National University, further working on ultra-low temperature UV-Vis spectroscopy. In 2008, he became an assistant professor, and in 2012 received the title of Docent (associate professor). Felix is currently the Director of Undergraduate Studies at the Department of Chemistry - Ångström Laboratory.
