Among his specific research interests are semigroup theory, functional calculus, input-to-state stability, and the control of infinite-dimensional systems, with particular attention to optimising constants for Crouzeix's conjecture. In addition to his research work, he teaches several Bachelor and Master courses within the Applied Mathematics programme, including service teaching and courses within the Dutch-wide MasterMath programme. He also coordinates the Math Track for the University’s Honours Bachelor programme and is involved with the Dutch Institute for Systems Control.
