Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Feng Wang. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Feng Wang received his B.A. from Fudan University, Shanghai in 1999 and his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 2004. He was a Miller Fellow at the Miller Institute for Basic Science, Berkeley from 2005 to 2007 and joined the physics faculty in the fall of 2007. His research interests focus on ultrafast nano-optics where he investigates light-matter interactions in condensed matter physics, with an emphasis on novel physical phenomena emerging from nanoscale structures, surfaces, and interfaces. His current projects include exploring the unique nature of excited state dynamics using advanced laser spectroscopy techniques, particularly in graphene optics, individual nanotubes, and plasmonics. He is developing sensitive infrared spectroscopy techniques and nonlinear probes to study the optical properties of materials at the nanoscale. Further, he collaborates with various groups at Berkeley to combine optical probes with mechanical, electrical, and characterizing methods to understand material properties better.
