Biography

Fengming Lu is a lecturer in the Department of Political and Social Change at the Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs, Australian National University. He specializes in authoritarian politics, behavioral politics, information politics, and Chinese politics. Fengming completed his Ph.D. in Political Science at Duke University in 2018, where he also earned his Master's degree. His undergraduate studies were in Political Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to his current position, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Peking-Princeton Postdoctoral Program. His research focuses on the political selection within the Chinese Communist Party, particularly the behavioral aspects of political elitism and how the masses respond to political propaganda in China and other non-democratic contexts. His work has been published in the 'Political Communication' and 'Economics Education Review' journals and has received funding from the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation and the National Science Foundation. Lu's research is characterized by a commitment to understanding the relationship between politics and society.
