Ferdinando Rodriguez y Baena is a Professor of Medical Robotics in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. He leads the Mechatronics Medicine Laboratory and the Applied Mechanics Division. Since July 2020, he has been the Engineering Co-Director of the Hamlyn Centre, which is part of the Institute of Global Health Innovation. As a founding member and great advocate of the Imperial College Robotics Forum, he serves as the point of contact for roboticists within the college. He oversees a team of 20 staff and PhD students, focusing on both 'blue skies' research and near-to-market development. Additionally, he holds the position of Chair of the Programme Committee for the International Society for Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery (CAOS International) and CAOS UK, as well as the Hamlyn Symposium. He is a founding Chair of the IET’s Communities Committee Technical Networks. Rodriguez y Baena is a winner of the Leverhulme Prize in engineering, a holder of an ERC grant, and the coordinator of the €8.3M European project on robotic-assisted neurosurgical drug delivery (EDEN2020). To date, he has published over 200 papers and secured more than £20M in research funding.
