Biography

Fernanda Leite is the Interim Vice President for Research and the Joe J. King Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. She is an expert in building information modeling (BIM) and construction engineering, with a research focus on the integration of 3D modeling and artificial intelligence (AI) to create sustainable and adaptable infrastructure. As the Associate Dean for Research in the Cockrell School of Engineering, Leite has been instrumental in launching major interdisciplinary initiatives in areas such as semiconductors, quantum science, and robotics. She has led cross-campus efforts for the Planet Texas 2050 grand challenge. Leite holds a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University and is a licensed professional engineer. Her collaborative, forward-looking approach to research leadership is aligned with advancing UT Austin's mission to become the world's highest-impact public research university.
