Professor Dr. Fernando Alvarez

Biography

Fernando Alvarez is the Charles F. Gray Distinguished Service Professor in the Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics at the University of Chicago. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota in 1994. His research focuses on dynamic general equilibrium models, particularly in relation to asset pricing and search insurance. Alvarez has made significant contributions to the field of economics and is recognized for his academic leadership, having been elected a Fellow of the Econometric Society in 2007 and a Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2018. He is actively involved in academia and his work continues to influence economic research at the highest levels.
