Dr. Filipa Figueira

Biography

Filipa Figueira's main areas of expertise are public policy and the European Union. She is particularly interested in bounded rationality, the effectiveness of EU policymaking, policy transfer, and homelessness practices in various European countries. Her research interests also include populism, UK-EU relations, and the allocation of policy competences at both the EU and national levels. Filipa's research is interdisciplinary and aims to offer novel combinations of political and economic theoretical frameworks. She is a Senior Adjunct Researcher at Vrije Universiteit Brussel's Brussels School of Governance and a Senior Member of the SSEES-based Centre for New Economic Transitions. Previously, she was a researcher at the Brussels-based think-tank Centre for European Policy Studies and a lecturer at the Berlin School of Economics and Law. She has also worked as an independent researcher for research centers and EU institutions, and her past professional experiences include roles in EU affairs consultancy and the European Policy Centre. Filipa has experience in high-quality private tuition in Politics, Political Economy, and EU Studies. She is fluent in English, French, and Portuguese, with advanced Spanish and pre-intermediate Dutch.
