Biography

Filippo Maria Fazi graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Brescia, Italy, in 2005, where he focused his master's thesis on room acoustics. He obtained his PhD in Acoustics from the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) in 2010, specializing in sound field reproduction. Shortly after, he was awarded a research fellowship from the Royal Academy of Engineering and appointed as a Lecturer at ISVR. Promoted to Associate Professor in 2015, he became ISVR's Director of Research in 2019 and was promoted to Professor in 2020. Professor Fazi has held visiting research positions at the University of California, San Diego, IRCAM in France, the University of Parma in Italy, and Tohoku University in Japan. Since his appointment in 2010, he has led a balanced portfolio of publicly-funded research grants and industrial contracts, generating research income exceeding £4 million. His industrial partners include notable organizations like BBC, Huawei, and ASK. He has authored over 150 scientific publications and holds several patents in audio technologies. His work and leadership have significantly contributed to making ISVR an internationally recognized center of excellence in audio research.
