Biography

Fiona Baumer is an Assistant Professor of Neurology specializing in Pediatric Neurology at Stanford University. She pursued her medical training at Harvard Medical School and completed her residency at Boston Children's Hospital. Following this, she underwent an epilepsy fellowship at Stanford where she is now an attending child neurologist. Dr. Baumer's clinical efforts focus on caring for children with epilepsy and she runs the TMS Presurgical Mapping Program. Her research primarily explores the impact of abnormal brain activity, specifically spike waves, on brain connectivity and cognitive comorbidities in children with epilepsy. She is particularly interested in how children with epilepsy process language and the effects of spike waves on this processing. Dr. Baumer's work is supported by the K23 Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award from the National Institutes of Health. Additionally, she is co-principal investigator for the National Consortium of Pediatric TMS Centers, funded by the Pediatric Epilepsy Research Foundation.
