Dr. Fiona Brimblecombe

Biography

Fiona Brimblecombe is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Manchester, with a research specialization that includes media law, tort law, and human rights. She graduated with an LLB(Hons) from Newcastle University in 2014, followed by an LLM with distinction from Durham Law School in 2015. Fiona completed her PhD in Law at Durham University in 2020, where she focused on the intersections between information control and privacy rights in the digital age. Her scholarly contributions include published works in the Journal of Internet Law and the Torts Law Journal, among others. In 2025, she is set to publish a monograph with Bristol University Press that critiques defamation law in the context of technological advancements. Fiona has acted as an advocate for stakeholders in legal and enforcement contexts, notably providing evidence for the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Bill. She is an Associate Scholar in the Law and the Inner Self Project and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Economic Criminology. Her teaching and research engage various academic and professional communities, focusing on the practical implications of law in contemporary society.
