Dr. Fiona Essig

Biography

Fiona joined the BSc Psychology programme in January 2020 and previously taught psychology at the Open University Institute of Continuing Education and the University of Cambridge. Her research background includes cognitive control models, attention, and verbal task switching. She has conducted research on students’ experiences with media multitasking while studying remotely during the pandemic. Fiona holds a BSc (Hons) in Cognitive Science from the University of Westminster, an MSc in Psychological Research Methods from the University of Hertfordshire, and a PhD in Cognitive Psychology. She is a chartered psychologist and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Fiona teaches a range of undergraduate modules, including foundation and advanced graduate attributes, an extended essay library dissertation module, and an addictions module. She also supervises undergraduate and taught postgraduate project students and presents a new Year 3 undergraduate module on Psychology and Creativity.
