Biography

Fiona Gallahue is a Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Washington. As a clinician-educator, she served as the Residency Program Director for the University of Washington Emergency Medicine Residency Program, which was accredited in 2011. Gallahue held this position until 2023 and has been a past President of the Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine. She received the Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Award from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education in 2020 and the Michael P. Wainscott Program Director Award from CORD-EM in 2023. Gallahue completed her MD at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 1997, and later finished her residency in emergency medicine at Bellevue-New York University Medical Center. Additionally, she participated in the EMF/ACEP Teaching Fellowship Program. Her research interests encompass various aspects of medical education, including the creation of fair and equitable evaluations for residents and senior medical students, as well as professionalism and communication skills. Her work has been published in several prestigious journals such as Academic Medicine, Academic Emergency Medicine, and the American Journal of Medical Quality.
