Fiona James earned a Master’s degree in Neuroscience from the University of Western Ontario before completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree at the Ontario Veterinary College. She undertook an internship in Michigan and then completed a residency in Neurology, receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Science degree. Since 2009, she has served as an adjunct faculty member at the Ontario Veterinary College as a veterinary neurology specialist, working in private practices in Ontario and the U.S. She joined the Ontario Veterinary College Neurology Service in 2011. Her research interests encompass comparative epilepsy, electroencephalography, translational genetics in neurologic disease, neuroimaging, and 3D medical modeling. Currently, she directs the Comparative Epilepsy Program and is involved in active projects examining the details of canine electroencephalography and epilepsy syndromes. Additionally, she is a founding member of the OVC Rapid Prototyping Patient-specific Implants for Dogs (RaPPID) research group.
