Dr. Fiona Mackie

Biography

Fiona Mackie is a senior consultant paediatric nephrologist at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick, having received her initial medical degrees and PhD from the University of Sydney. She completed her postgraduate training in paediatric kidney transplantation at Stanford University, where she finished a three-year fellowship. Fiona chaired the Australian New Zealand Paediatric Nephrology Association from 2012 to 2015 and currently serves as the paediatric representative on the Allocation Sub-committee of the Renal Transplant Advisory Group in Australia. She is also the incoming Chair of the International Paediatric Transplant Association Outreach Committee and is actively involved in supporting nephrology transplantation initiatives in Vietnam. Her work has contributed to the ISN/TTS Sister Transplant Fellowship at CH2 Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. Fiona maintains an active clinical research interest in transplantation outcomes, including HLA sensitisation, allocation issues, and viral disease vaccination in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. She has led significant research projects, including those focused on HLA sensitisation and influenza vaccination for paediatric kidney transplant recipients, and has been a principal investigator in several key trials.
