Biography

Fiona J. Moola is an Associate Professor at the School of Early Childhood Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University. She has a background in Childhood disability, chronic illness, and qualitative research. Her research focuses on the experiences of children and caregivers living with disabilities or chronic illnesses and utilizes arts-based research methods to convey health and illness experiences. Dr. Moola has contributed significantly to the academic literature with 55 publications, including articles and book chapters, and her work is funded by various organizations such as the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. She completed her MSc and PhD at the University of Toronto and has engaged in a range of academic and community-based research projects including the psychosocial impact of childhood cancer and the role of fashion in the lives of patients with cystic fibrosis. Additionally, she is a registered psychotherapist and offers therapy and workshops focused on equity, diversity, and inclusion. Dr. Moola's commitment to social justice and anti-oppression principles is evident in her teaching and research initiatives. She has also received numerous awards for her excellence in teaching and contributions to community service.
