Biography

Associate Professor Fiona Wright is a highly respected member of Mildura’s medical health community with over ten years of experience. She serves as the Director of the Monash School of Rural Health in Mildura and as a Medical Officer at the Mildura Base Hospital. Previously, she held the position of Director of Medical Services at the same hospital. Dr. Wright has also been a member of the Board of the Lower Murray Medicare Local for four years and has spent three years on the Mildura Base Hospital Community Advisory Board. Her extensive collaboration with the Mildura community helps to improve the range of medical health services available. Dr. Wright is acutely aware of the regional disadvantages and challenges faced by health services in these areas. Her current research project focuses on enhancing the confidence and ability of final year medical students to accurately interpret ECGs, and she is involved in various initiatives related to rural health service provision and equity. Fiona’s expertise aligns closely with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in health workforce development in rural areas. Throughout her career, she has significantly contributed to improving health services within the Mildura region.
