Biography

Firman Witoelar Kartaadipoetra joined the Indonesia Project at the Arndt-Corden Department of Economics, Crawford School of Public Policy, in November 2018. He previously served as research director at SurveyMeter, a research organization based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from 2013 to 2018. Prior to that, he was a research economist at the Development Economics Research Group (DECRG) at the World Bank in Washington, DC, from 2009 to 2013. He holds a PhD in Economics from Michigan State University and was a Rockefeller Postdoctoral Fellow at the Economic Growth Center at Yale University. Kartaadipoetra has been involved with the implementation of the Indonesia Family Life Survey, serving as Co-Principal Investigator for IFLS4 in 2007 and IFLS5 in 2014. He is currently an affiliated professor at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a faculty affiliate at the CPC Learning Network, Mailman School of Public Health, at Columbia University. Additionally, he serves as the Lead Editor for the Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies.
