Biography

Professor Flavia Cicuttini is the Head of the Musculoskeletal Unit at Monash University and the Head of Rheumatology at Alfred Hospital. She graduated in Medicine from Monash University in 1982 and completed her PhD at the University of Melbourne in 1993, along with an MSc in Epidemiology from the University of London in 1995 and a Diploma at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 1996. Her primary research interests focus on the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal diseases, particularly osteoarthritis. Cicuttini has made significant contributions in the field of osteoarthritis, including developing assessment methods for joints in clinical trials. She has performed world-leading clinical trials on osteoarthritis, resulting in new insights into the causes and treatment of the disease. Cicuttini has published over 600 peer-reviewed articles and has supervised numerous doctoral students. She currently serves on the editorial boards of several journals and has been recognized with awards for her collaborative research efforts.
