Dr. Flavio Toxvaerd

Biography

Flavio Toxvaerd is a Professor of Economics at the University of Cambridge and a fellow of Clare College. He serves as the Founding Director of the Cambridge Initiative Market Studies and is a member of the Economic Advisory Group on Competition Policy for the European Commission. Additionally, he holds a position as a Non-Governmental Advisor with the International Competition Network and is appointed by the Danish Competition Consumer Authority. Toxvaerd possesses multiple degrees including a BSc and MSc in Economics from the University of Copenhagen, an MSc in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics from the London School of Economics, and a PhD in Economics from the London Business School, as well as a PhD in Theoretical Epidemiology from the University of Cambridge. His research interests span multiple key areas including industrial organization, competition policy, economic theory, and economic epidemiology. He has been an affiliated researcher at the Bennett School of Public Policy and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research, and has actively participated in policy advisory roles related to competition productivity economics in the UK. Toxvaerd has also supervised several PhD students and contributed significantly to the field through various research grants and teaching modules.
