Dr. Fleur Deken

Biography

Fleur Deken is a Full Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where she holds a University Research Chair as Vice-Dean of Research in the School of Business and Economics. Her research focuses on new forms of collaboration, particularly the development of technological innovations to address societal challenges, known as mission-oriented innovation. Deken's theoretical interests encompass strategic change, organizational routines, capabilities, process research, and knowledge collaboration across boundaries. She has received her PhD from Delft University of Technology with cum laude honors and has multiple degrees in psychology and engineering. Her recent research includes innovation ecosystems and multiparty collaborations, with funding from the Dutch Science Foundation and involvement in projects such as Techport NeLL. Deken teaches courses in the International Business Administration program and acts as Program Coordinator for this large undergraduate program. Her scholarly output appears in respected journals like Academy Management Journal and Research Policy, and she has a significant presence at international conferences. Active in various academic committees, Deken also coordinates efforts that align academic research with practical executive teaching, emphasizing collaborative skills and qualitative research methodologies.
