Biography

Florence Halstead is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate whose research focuses on the intersection of society and climate change education. Her work utilizes Participatory Action Research and community collaboration, spanning numerous international contexts to mobilize sustainable and climate-resilient transitions. Currently, she is involved in the Community Collaboration workstream of the GALLANT project, which is a £10.2 million initiative based in the Centre for Sustainable Solutions and funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). Florence has a keen interest in how spatial, temporal, and cultural contexts influence individual and community environmental perceptions and behaviors. Her research particularly focuses on collective action within communities to raise climate consciousness, alleviate localized climate challenges, and help manage climate anxieties. Although she works with a range of communities across generations, her research thus far has aimed to engage children and youth.
