Biography

Floris Van Vugt is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the Université de Montréal. Originally trained in mathematics and neuroimaging, he is focused on the interplay between music and social integration, examining how music can serve as a tool for fostering interpersonal connections. With a research background that spans multiple countries and disciplines, including an extensive education in Liberal Arts and Sciences, Linguistics, and Neurosciences, Van Vugt brings a unique perspective to the study of empathy and communication. His work includes theoretical and empirical studies related to sensorimotor systems and the cognitive processes involved in music performance.
