Biography

Fong Chan completed a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and a Doctor of Pharmacy from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia. He undertook a Pharmacy Practice Residency at Vancouver Coastal Health-Providence Health Care. His clinical practice included working as a clinical pharmacy specialist in the hemodialysis unit, focusing on chronic kidney disease. Since 2014, Chan has been a part of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, where he serves in the practice skills laboratory group and as a lecturer. His educational research interests concentrate on innovative technologies that complement traditional teaching methods. His involvement includes projects that utilize simulation stethoscopes and standardized patients, as well as incorporating generative AI for virtual patient cases and case-based learning. He is particularly interested in fostering the roles of pharmacy students as future educators through initiatives like the UBC Academic Teaching Rotation PHASE Program.
