Dr. Forrest Deegan

Biography

Forrest James Deegan is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Chicago Law School. He has extensive experience in ethics compliance, having served as VP of Ethics Compliance at Victoria’s Secret & Co., where he oversees the global ethics compliance program. Prior to this role, he spent six years as the Chief Ethics Compliance Officer at Abercrombie & Fitch Co., where he was responsible for building and managing the corporate compliance and third-party risk management programs. Deegan has also been involved with the Editorial Advisory Board of Compliance Week and has served on the Leadership Team of the Retail Industry Leaders Association Compliance Council. He regularly speaks at national compliance conferences and was recognized as one of Compliance Week's “Top Minds” in 2018. His previous experience includes working as a Director and Senior Director at Abercrombie & Fitch, where he focused on a wide range of compliance program assessments and training enhancement projects related to international business development, joint ventures, and franchises. Before transitioning in-house, Deegan practiced law for nine years at Arnold & Porter in Washington D.C., advising multinational clients in the pharmaceutical, financial, and consumer products sectors. He began his legal career clerking for Judge Kazen in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, after earning his J.D. from Duke Law School and his B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
