Biography

Franc Nunoo-Quarcoo is a designer, educator, writer, and curator whose professional work and teaching encompass publication, interface, and exhibition design, along with a focus on writing and collaboration. He believes that the designer’s process is integral to finding, taking, elevating, and sharing solutions with the public. His work emphasizes problem seeking and problem solving to align form with content and meaning, exploring the relationship between language, imagery, and communication devices. Nunoo-Quarcoo’s multi-disciplinary approach has led to his work being recognized and exhibited in numerous permanent collections, including the American Institute of Graphic Arts Design Archives, Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution, and the Library of Congress. His latest publication is Paul Rand: Modernist Design, and he has curated exhibitions including Word+Image: Swiss Poster Design, 1955-1997, and Bruno Monguzzi: Designer’s Perspective. Currently, he is curating an exhibition titled Paul Rand: Modernist Design and preparing a book on Rudolph deHarak: American Designer.
