Biography

Francesca Cornelli is the Dean of Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and holds the Donald P. Jacobs Chair in Finance. Since joining Kellogg in 2019, she has focused on shaping empathetic leaders who think globally and unite diverse perspectives to lead in a rapidly changing and complex world. Under her leadership, Kellogg increased its commitment to preparing leaders to effectively operate at the intersection of business, science, and technology, including the launch of the MBAi program, a joint degree with Northwestern’s McCormick School of Engineering. Cornelli is a global educator with extensive international experience, having taught at prestigious institutions including the London School of Economics, Indian School of Business, Moscow’s New Economic School, and Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to her tenure at Kellogg, she was a professor of finance and deputy dean at the London Business School. Cornelli is recognized as an accomplished scholar and leader in business education, with research interests encompassing corporate governance, private equity, privatization, bankruptcy, IPOs, and innovation policy. She serves as an editor for the Review of Financial Studies and has been involved in various boards to promote the advancement of women academics in finance.
