Biography

Francesca Cotier is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology Education at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King's College London. She joined King’s as a Teaching Fellow and has been active as the year 2 curriculum coordinator since September 2019. Cotier completed her PhD at the University of Hong Kong in 2016, where her thesis investigated the relationship between social defeat and psychosis proneness in the Chinese population. After completing her PhD, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Laboratory of Neuropsychology at the University of Hong Kong. Currently, Dr. Cotier leads and teaches modules related to mental health, with primary research interests in exploring sociocultural risk and protective factors for mental health conditions, particularly psychosis. She is particularly interested in the impact of identity, especially cultural and food identity, on mental health outcomes. Her research spans cross-cultural studies and employs team-based learning methodologies in her teaching of BSc Psychology: Mental Health modules.
