Dr. Francesca Galli

Biography

Francesca Galli is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Università della Svizzera italiana, where she teaches Medieval literature philology. She is involved in the PRIN project LiLeSC, focusing on books and readers from 13th to 15th century Florence and collaborating with the Biblioteca di Santa Croce and Roma Tre University. Galli is a member of SISMEL and has contributed to the drafting of bibliographical records for Medioevo Latino. Her interdisciplinary research interests primarily lie in Medieval sciences, particularly optics, and the interplay between literature and visual culture, as well as the relationships between Mendicant preaching and textual representations. She has been part of the SGLP at Universität Zürich and a postdoctoral assistant at the Istituto di studi italiani, where she worked under the supervision of Prof. Sara Garau on educational planning and organizing symposia for the Scuola dottorale confederale in Civiltà italiana. In 2016, Galli earned her Ph.D. from Università della Svizzera italiana, where her dissertation involved a critical edition of Bartolomeo da Bologna's treatise on light. Her work has been recognized with the Balzan Prize Foundation Fellowship.
