Francesca Research Associate in the Heat Fire Lab within the Department of Engineering at King’s College London. Her current research focuses on numerical modeling of fire behavior in Lithium-ion batteries as part of the SAFEBATT project funded by the Faraday Institute. She completed her PhD in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London, where her research concentrated on developing numerical models to simulate the behavior of large structures exposed to fire, which helped improve fire safety in tall building facades. Francesca holds a BEng in Structural Engineering and Architecture from the University of Edinburgh and an MSc in Advanced Structural Engineering from Imperial College London. She enjoys science communication, having presented her research work at industry CPD seminars and conferences, and has exhibited at large public outreach events like New Scientist Live at the Science Museum. Additionally, she is an active member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers and is passionate about Engineering Education, currently working as a coding engineering tutor at Richer Education since 2018. During her time at Imperial College, she was involved in teaching Heat Transfer, Computing, and Structural Fire Engineering courses in Thermofluids Labs. Francesca is also a strong supporter of EDI initiatives.
