Dr. Francesca Vantaggiato

Biography

Francesca Pia Vantaggiato is a Senior Lecturer in the Public Policy Programme at King's College London. She studies collective action problems and bureaucratic politics, focusing on multilevel governance settings. Her research interests include environmental policy and energy policy, especially regarding infrastructure decision-making. Francesca joined King's College London in January 2020 after serving as a post-doctoral researcher at the Center for Environmental Policy Behavior at the University of California, Davis. She earned her PhD in Political Science from the University of East Anglia. During her doctoral studies, she worked as a research assistant at the Florence School of Regulation, European University Institute, and at the Centre for Competition Policy, University of East Anglia. Her work emphasizes the intersection of public administration, governance, and policy studies, using advanced quantitative methods and formal modeling. Francesca is active in various research groups focusing on environmental governance, political economy, and regulatory policy. She has published extensively on topics related to bureaucratic discretion, regulatory networks, and climate change.
