Biography

Francesca Vidotto is an Assistant Professor and a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Physics at Western University. Her research predominantly focuses on Loop Quantum Gravity, which is the most developed non-perturbative theory of quantum gravity. Her work seeks to reconcile the principles of quantum theory with those of Einstein's General Relativity, allowing for exploration of phenomena such as black holes and the early universe. She is involved in developing new theoretical tools to understand the quantum aspects of space-time and is engaged in collaborative research that intersects various disciplines. Vidotto has co-authored several publications addressing the mathematical structure of Loop Quantum Gravity and its implications for astrophysical events. Her notable book, 'Covariant Loop Quantum Gravity,' published by Cambridge University Press, serves as an introduction to this complex field. She is also a founding editor of 'Quantum' and has served on the editorial board of 'Foundation of Physics'. In recognition of her contributions, she has received several awards including the NVH Jubilee Prize for talented young female scientists at Radboud University.
