Biography

Francesco Bertoni is the head of the Lymphoma Genomics group at the Institute of Oncology Research in Bellinzona, Switzerland, and serves as the institute’s deputy director. He is an adjunct professor at Università della Svizzera italiana. Dr. Bertoni's research focuses on the development of new anti-lymphoma compounds and lymphoma genomics. He obtained his Medical Degree magna cum laude in 1994 and completed his Medical Oncology Specialty in 1998 at the State University of Milan. He has held positions at several esteemed institutions, including the Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico and the Institute of Child Health in London. In Bellinzona since April 2003, Bertoni has led research initiatives with contributions to significant conferences, such as being the President of the Local Organizing Committee for the International Conference on Malignant Lymphoma in 2019. He has authored and co-authored over 200 original papers, as well as numerous editorials and book sections. His ongoing projects involve the development of microfluidic platforms for real-time detection of SARS-CoV-2 and genetic screening methods to improve treatment outcomes for lymphoma patients. Professor Bertoni is also an active member of the Swiss Cancer Research Group and has participated in various project groups dedicated to lymphoma and developmental therapeutics.
