Dr. Francesco Costanzo

Biography

Francesco Costanzo is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Engineering Science Mechanics at The Pennsylvania State University. His research focuses on various aspects of biomedical engineering, including brain science and neural engineering, dynamics of systems, acoustics, and vibrations. He specializes in multiscale multiphysics modeling and computational analysis, aiming to enhance understanding of complex biomechanical processes through advanced modeling techniques. His work encompasses continuum thermodynamics, mechanics of thin films, and time-dependent fracture mechanics in composite materials. Costanzo has made significant contributions through journal publications, conference proceedings, and collaborative research projects, furthering the field of biomechanics and its application in medicine and technology. He has been recognized as an Academic Leadership Program Fellow by the Big Ten Academic Alliance and has actively contributed to the education and mentorship of students in the biomedical engineering program.
