Francesco Gervasio is a full professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Geneva and holds a chair in Structural Molecular Biology at University College London. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Florence, Italy, at the end of 2001, and subsequently joined ETH Zurich as a postdoctoral assistant from 2002 to 2009. In 2009, he led the Biophysics group at the Spanish National Cancer Research Center in Madrid, and in 2013, he became a full professor at University College London. Gervasio joined the University of Geneva in 2020, where his research focuses on developing computational methods to study complex biomolecular systems with an emphasis on drug discovery. His groundbreaking work includes the prediction of previously unknown cryptic binding pockets for designing allosteric modulators and elucidating mechanisms of action for oncogenic mutations in kinases. His group’s research interests cover precision medicine, particularly in understanding the effects of disease-causing mutations. His computational methods are widely applied in both academia and the pharmaceutical industry, contributing significantly to the field of cancer research.
