Biography

Madame Francine Gratton joined the FSI shortly after her retirement in 2010 to continue mentoring doctoral students. This affiliation allows her to maintain a connection to the Faculty where, over 35 years, she held various positions including lecturer, assistant professor, associate professor, full professor, and vice-dean for graduate studies and research. Her teaching expertise primarily focuses on family health, mental health, and psychiatry. In 2004, she received the Florence Award from OIIQ and FRESIQ in the category of 'Disease Prevention' for her work on suicide. Beyond her association with the FSI, Ms. Gratton participates in monthly activities at the Research Center on Suicide and Euthanasia (CRISE at UQÀM) and is a board member of the Quebec Association for Suicide Prevention. Her research interests include understanding and explaining how adolescents come to attempt suicide, focusing on their life stories and the role of socialization.
