Dr. Francis Clooney

Biography

Francis X. Clooney is the Parkman Professor of Divinity and one of the prominent scholars in Comparative Theology at Harvard Divinity School. He is a Faculty Associate at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, where his academic focus encompasses the study of Hinduism and Christianity, along with classical religious traditions. With vast experience in negotiating modernity and globalization, Clooney specializes in hermeneutics and the dynamics of interreligious and intercultural exchange. He has extensively researched missionary encounters and classical Hinduism, particularly in the context of Sanskrit and Tamil traditions.
