Biography

Frank Doyle is the 14th provost of Brown University, serving as the chief academic officer and chief budget officer. In this role, he collaborates closely with the university president to advance the institution’s mission regarding teaching, research, and service. Doyle is responsible for ensuring academic excellence alongside sound budgetary practices across all programs, academic departments, and research centers. Before his appointment at Brown, he was the John Paulson Dean of the Harvard John Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, where he established various collaborations within Harvard and developed new master's programs and executive education opportunities. He has also been a strong advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging activities in engineering education. Doyle has held positions such as Mellichamp Professor at UC Santa Barbara and has been recognized by multiple professional organizations for his contributions. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, the National Academy of Inventors, and the National Academy of Engineering. His research interests include systems biology, network science, modeling and analysis of circadian rhythms, and drug delivery for diabetes.
