Biography

Francis Kéré is a representative of socially responsible architecture, well-known for his focus on participation and material sustainability. He studied architecture at the Technical University of Berlin and founded Kéré Architecture in 2005. In 2013, he was appointed to the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio in Switzerland. Kéré has previously taught at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, USA, and was a visiting professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Design in 2011. He is committed to the implementation of sustainable architecture in Burkina Faso through the Kéré Foundation. On October 1, 2017, Kéré was appointed to the newly created professorship in "Architectural Design Participation" at the Technical University of Munich's Department of Architecture, where he also serves as an expert for the Simple Building research group.
