Biography

Dr. Francis Lee is the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and a Professor of Psychiatry, Neuroscience, and Pharmacology at Weill Cornell Medicine. He is also the Psychiatrist-in-Chief at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Lee obtained his M.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. Following this, he completed his psychiatry residency training at the Payne Whitney Clinic at Weill Cornell Medicine and additional postdoctoral training in molecular neuroscience at the Skirball Institute of New York University and the University of California, San Francisco. His laboratory, the Lee Lab, focuses on the basic molecular neural mechanisms relevant to neuropsychiatric disorders, specifically using genetic models to delineate the role of growth factors such as BDNF in complex behaviors related to the pathophysiology and treatment of affective disorders. He maintains an active faculty practice treating a range of conditions through psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.
