Dr. Francis Vanek

Biography

Francis Vanek is a Senior Lecturer and Research Associate in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University. He holds a doctorate in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and undergraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Asian Studies from Cornell University. His research interests focus on sustainable energy systems, transportation, and green building systems. He advises Masters Engineering projects related to sustainable initiatives and carbon neutrality at Cornell. Vanek has been involved in numerous projects, including feasibility studies in energy systems, green transportation, and renewable energy. He has published textbooks such as 'Energy Systems Engineering: Evaluation Implementation' and 'Sustainable Transportation Systems Engineering'. Vanek has also served as a volunteer member on the board of the S.T.E.V.E.N. Foundation, a non-profit focused on small-scale alternative energy solutions. In addition to his professional work, he resides in a cohousing community with his family.
