Biography

Francisco E. González is an Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, specializing in International Political Economy with a focus on Latin American politics. He holds an MPhil (1997) and a DPhil (2002) in Politics from the University of Oxford, as well as a BA in Politics and Public Administration from El Colegio de México (1995). His research interests include the political economy of Latin America, global regional energy issues, and Sino–Latin American relations. He has received the JHU SAIS Max M. Fisher Prize for Excellence in Teaching twice, in 2006 and 2012. González has held notable academic positions, including British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at Nuffield College, University of Oxford, and Professorial Lecturer in Latin American Political Economy at the JHU-SAIS Bologna Center. His publications include works on the political and economic challenges facing Mexico and the broader Latin American region. His teaching emphasizes the complexities of political and economic transitions within Mexico and a comparative perspective on regional dynamics, focusing on themes such as globalization, financial crises, and political culture.
