Franck Scherrer has been a full professor in urban planning at the University of Montreal since 2010. A former student of the École Normale Supérieure in Paris, he graduated in geography (M.Sc., University Lyon 2), and in urban planning (Ph.D., Institute of Urban Planning of Paris). He initially served at the French Ministry of Urban Planning as a mission leader for city foresight and later taught at the Institute of Urban Planning of Paris and the Institute of Urban Planning of Lyon, where he was the director from 2006 to 2010. He has also taught in engineering schools and has been a visiting professor at Lebanese University and Tongji University in Shanghai. His research has been conducted at the CNRS Laboratories in France and has involved interdisciplinary urban research with various scientific councils. In 2010, he joined the University of Montreal as the director of the Institute of Urban Planning and later as the director of the School of Urbanism and Landscape Architecture. He promotes research culture through various projects focused on societal challenges and ecological transformations.
