Biography

Franco Ferrari joined NYU School of Law as a full-time faculty member in Fall 2010. Prior to this, he held positions as a chaired professor of international law at the University of Verona in Italy from 2002 to 2016 and as a chaired professor of comparative law at Tilburg University in the Netherlands from 1995 to 1998 and at the University of Bologna in Italy from 1998 to 2002. He has participated as a member of the Italian delegation at the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) from 1995 to 2000 and served as a Legal Officer at the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs from 2000 to 2002. With over 380 publications including law review articles, book chapters, and entries in more than 50 books, Ferrari's work spans areas of international commercial law, conflict laws, and comparative law. He has been recognized with the Certificate of Merit for High Technical Craftsmanship for Practicing Lawyers and Scholars awarded by the American Society of International Law. He has also served on the editorial boards of multiple peer-reviewed European law journals and was the General Editor of the European International Arbitration Review from 2016 to 2019. Ferrari acts as an international arbitrator in both international commercial and investment arbitrations.
