Dr. François Durand

Biography

François Durand is a Full Professor at the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa, where he specializes in Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management. He received his PhD in psychology from Université de Montréal in 2002. Over his career, he has supervised more than 20 master’s and doctoral students and has been recognized with several teaching awards from the Ministry of Education. Before entering academia, Durand worked in the Canadian federal public service as a project manager. His research interests focus on teamwork and collaboration within various organizations, especially in the healthcare field. He investigates the factors that allow teams to function effectively and efficiently, with a particular emphasis on how team members interact to achieve their objectives, the socialization of new members, and the management of interpersonal conflicts. Durand is also interested in project teams that implement organizational change. He has secured significant research funding from the Tri-Council agencies and the Project Management Institute and has published in reputable journals such as Small Group Research, International Journal of Project Management, and BMC Health Services Research.
