Dr. François Lagugné Labarthet

Biography

François Lagugné-Labarthet is a Professor at Western University specializing in the field of physical and analytical chemistry. His research focuses on the characterization of nanosized materials and their applications in biological sensors, flexible solar cells, and drug delivery systems. Over the past decade, he has made significant strides in understanding the properties of nano-objects and functionalized surfaces through optical spectroscopy combined with advanced microscopy techniques. Lagugné-Labarthet's program emphasizes the study of biomaterials organized on nano- and micro-scales, utilizing high-resolution optical microscopy methods such as Raman and fluorescence spectroscopy. He also directs the state-of-the-art nanofabrication facility at Western University, aimed at designing and fabricating original nanostructures to overcome the diffraction limit of light.
