Biography

Francois Luks is the J. Murray Beardsley Professor of Pediatric Surgery at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where he also serves as Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery and Pediatric Surgeon-in-Chief at Hasbro Children’s Rhode Island Hospital. He has held leadership roles including Co-Director of the Fetal Treatment Program of New England and Director of the Brown Program in Fetal Medicine. He was the lead investigator on a landmark multicenter trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine that showcased the survival benefits of fetal interventions. Luks is also recognized for his teaching initiatives and for leading innovative workshops that integrate medical illustration into surgical education, bridging the gap between art and clinical practice. Beyond his clinical and educational responsibilities, he has been actively involved in several professional associations, including serving as President of the International Fetal Medicine and Surgery Society. He has received numerous awards for his contributions, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the North American Fetal Therapy Network.
