Biography

Frank Berkshire is a Principal Teaching Fellow in the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London. He served as the Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Mathematics from 1987 to 2011 before formally retiring. Post-retirement, he continues his involvement in academia by overseeing the content and conduct of degree courses. Berkshire has a wealth of experience in delivering mathematics lectures both in the UK and overseas, catering to a broad range of audiences from specialized to non-specialized groups. His long-term research interests encompass fluid mechanics, waves in fluids, applications in oceanic and atmospheric flows, nonlinear partial differential equations, wave focusing solitons, dynamics, biological mechanics, and statistical aspects of dynamical systems, as well as game theory and chaos. He has contributed significantly to the field of mathematical education and was awarded the Rector's Medal for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching Excellence in 2010. Berkshire is also a long-time Board Director of Blackheath Cricket, Football and Lawn Tennis Company Limited, which operates Blackheath Sports Club.
