Biography

Professor Dehne is a Chancellor's Professor Emeritus at Carleton University. He was the Founding Director of the Carleton University Institute of Data Science from 2015 to 2022 and served as the Director of the School of Computer Science from 2000 to 2003 and again from 2006 to 2008. His research program is focused on data science, artificial intelligence, parallel computing, and computational biochemistry. He has collaborated on developing high-performance computing systems that address computationally challenging problems in bioinformatics and business data analytics using large-scale cloud computing systems and GPUs. He is a co-founder of the biotech company Designed Biologics Inc. Over his career, Professor Dehne has published more than 180 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, accumulating over 6,000 citations. According to the Stanford-Elsevier list, he ranks among the top 2% of most-cited scientists in data science and AI.
