Biography

Frank Dignum is a Professor leading a research group in socially conscious Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Umeå University. His research primarily focuses on developing models that provide insights into how society responds to political changes and natural disasters. Dignum leverages these models to create social simulations that offer a realistic depiction of societal reactions to policy changes and crises. His work also includes creating natural dialogues for chatbots used in training medical students to converse with patients. He earned his Ph.D. in 1989 from VU Amsterdam and has held various positions, including honorary principal research fellow at the University of Melbourne.
